Lollapalooza "Buzz Bands" to Watch

So who's ready for Lollapalooza? This year yields an epic lineup consisting of The Strokes, Green Day, Lady Gaga, and Arcade Fire. But are you wondering who to see before the headliners every day? Below are some of this years "buzz bands" that everybody should try to check out.

The Big Pink

Check out these London based electro rockers. Dominoes was one of my favorite songs of the summer last year. Definitely attend if you are in need of some electro rock.

War Paint

These chicks rock. Disregard the dude on the drums on the video. This is now an all girl group. Their harmonies are sick and they master all their instruments. They define the term "Girl Power". This is a band that is best seen live and has really been building some buzz after rocking SXSW and Bonnaroo.

Royal Bangs

This band from Knoxville, TN are beginning to blow up. They were a buzz band at SXSW this year and are currently working on their third album. Their sound is sort of like a heavier version of TV on the Radio. The energy these guys put into all their live performances is similar to My Morning Jacket. They have a unique sound that incorporates electronics and hard rock. Check them out.

The Cribs

The Cribs are British rock band to check out for sure. Their newest album has Johnny Marr (The Smiths) and he is going to be playing with them. Should be a fun set. Hopefully they will make fun of the scenesters to their face. God knows their are going to be a ton of them at Lollapalooza.

Mumford and Sons

British folk band. Their music is very mellow but very beautiful. They bring the intensity to their live shows. Check them out if you want to see some epic folk music.

Hockey

These guys played last year but had their set cut short when their equipment broke down. I'm glad that they get another chance to play Lollapalooza. They have a good "dance rock" vibe going. A lot of people compare them to The Strokes but I don't see it...

So here they are.. a couple of buzz bands that everyone should check out. If you Their is going to be so much music going on this weekend that you can't really go wrong. I hope everyone has a fun time and look out for my live tweets at lollapalooza @freak_out_music.
