TRL Saturday?
Being the rock star that I am, I was too sick to update the blog yesterday.. Yeah I know that's pretty lame. Anyway so I'm putting out the TRL Friday on Saturday. Since I'm doing this on Saturday I've changed my original choice. Saturday means college football, and college football means young college kids fucking up and letting down thousands of fans. So this music video goes out to all the kids that are about to fuck up today.

Nas and Carlos Santana- Back in Black
Sorry Kanye and Justin Bieber, I'mma let you finish but Nas and Carlos Santana get the nod for biggest WTF collaboration of the year. I never thought that I'd hear Nas and Santana covering AC/DC. I'm sure most people are going to hate this, but I actually think this is pretty good. It's off of Santana's new covers album.

TRL Fridays!!!! (Silverchair "Ana's Song" edition)
\\\
With the debut of TRL Friday last week, I brought you the classic summer jam from LFO "Summer Girls". That song was in memory of Rich Cronin, their singer who recently died of cancer. This week I'm going with a more rock direction. TRL was in fact, more than just boy bands and pop divas. TRL also had some good rock songs thrown in the mix. This song in particular always sort of scared me when I was a kid. It blew my mind to hear a singer sing about his past experience with anorexia. It honestly sort of freaked me out. I was more used to songs along the line of "Hit Me Baby One More Time". Seeing this video still sort of gives me chills. Daniel Johns is pretty obvious with the lyrics of the song "Ana wrecks your life" obviously is talking about anorexia. So I'm posting this video because for me, it was my first real experience to music that wasn't considered pop and it dealt with personal problems that weren't just broken hearts. So kick back and let the nostalgia kick in while watching this TRL classic.

Check out the new trailer for the upcoming Michael Jackson video game. Pretty crazy idea. It will be interesting to see how the game will work without some sort of dance mat to stand on, like in DDR. Kanye West- Runaway (VMA Performance)
About a year after the whole Taylor Swift/Kanye West incident at the VMAs, both were back to debut new songs. Taylor Swift decided to milk the situation by starting off with a video of the incident. She then preceded to sing a song about forgiving Kanye. She sang lyrics letting him know that he can still get into heaven and that he can recover from hitting rock bottom... (Wait he just interrupted her right?) Anyway.. Later on in the night after Taylor Swift was done with her pretentious performance, Kanye took the stage and dominated. Watch the video above to see Kanye keep it real in his music, and more importantly sing something sincere and creative. Complete opposite of Taylor's performance...

TRL Fridays!!!
Introducing a new feature on the blog. Growing up, the only thing that kept me sane in middle school was coming home and watching TRL. Most of my memories of the mid 90's to early 2000's are based on the videos that dominated the countdown.... Don't judge me... Anyway, it was a happier time where you can watch your favorite video 50 days in a row before it would be retired. All the new videos would always have their debut on TRL, and more importantly it was a time when there was actually music on MTV. Yeah a lot of the videos were cheesy and poppy, but where else could you see the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Britney Spears, and Outkast all on the same countdown? So in honor of the positive effect that Carson Daly and TRL had on my life, I've decided to pay homage to TRL by having TRL Fridays. This feature is just me posting a random TRL video every Friday. Basically whatever I'm feeling.

Sufjan Stevens- Too Much
Another new Sufjan Stevens track from his upcoming album "The Age of Adz". Like his last release "I Walked", this track is also heavy on the electronics. After hearing two of the songs you definitely get a feel of how the album is going to sound. I like this new direction he's going. It's always cool when a band experiments with a new sound.
