SXSW Artist to Watch: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.
SXSW 2011 is coming sooner rather than later. With so many bands playing every year it's almost impossible to go wrong with what you see. What makes SXSW so great every year is discovering new bands who are on the verge of breaking out. Last year some of those bands for me were The Drums, Royal Bangs, and Warpaint. We are going to try a new feature on our blog showcasing some of the bands that we think you should make an effort to see this year at SXSW. I mean seeing Bright Eyes would be great, but we all know in order to see them you would have to be a badge holder and get there 6 hours before the show. No need for that headache. SXSW is all about up and coming bands. The first band that we want to feature is Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.
Besides having a funny name, this duo from Michigan has a clever sound to them. I guess if they were to be classified into a category, it would be psychedelic chillwave? I hate to use the term "chillwave" though so bear with me on this one. The band doesn't have that many songs out right now, and they all sort of have a different sound. Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.'s live show built a lot of buzz during CMJ in NY earlier this year. Take a listen to them below and check out their MySpace over here.
