Prince's Last show in NY turns into a Giant Party!

We usually don't cover big shows here at Freak Out Music. Usually we go for more up and coming acts. This Prince show was an exception. Today was one of those days for me where nothing seemed to go right. Everything just felt off. In the middle of the day I decided that I needed to turn my luck around and on impulse called my friend and decided to go to the last Prince show of his five show run. Man what a good decision that was! Totally killed my bad day and turned it into one that I'll remember for a while. Once the lights dimmed and Prince emerged from the bottom of the stage with a sparkling golden outfit, the crowd went flat out crazy. He opened his set with a rocking version of Laydown and then immediately got the crowd in MSG dancing by transitioning into 1999. What makes a Prince show great is the energy that he brings to his concerts. This was no exception. Whether you like his music or not, you can't deny the fact that Prince is a performer. Whether he is dancing on stage, ripping another guitar solo or sliding to his knees screaming, you can tell that he gives it his all and the audience in turn gave it their all dancing in the stands. For Prince's last show of a 5 run stint in NY, you knew he would have a couple of surprises. One of these happened early on when he brought Kim Kardashian on to the stage to dance with him.

Sadly she didn't cut it and he kicked her off for not cutting it. She later redeemed herself when her, along with other celebrities including Chris Rock, all came on stage during his second encore and danced. Another highlight of the show was when Prince pulled out Questlove to come out and play drums on "Cool" Quest looked excited to be up there playing with someone he obviously looks up to. If you don't believe me check his Twitter feed.. The final surprise of the show was during one of the encores, opener Cee Lo Green came out and sang his hit Gnarls Barkley song "Crazy" with Prince jamming on guitar. Definitely a cool moment. Although Prince knocked out a lot of the bigger hits early on by playing Little Red Corvette, Controversy, and Purple Rain all within the first 6 songs the show never lost steam. He played for a solid 2 and a half hours without there being a dull moment. As a matter of fact none of the Prince shows I've been to have ever had a dull moment... The man is an entertainer. I know it's an obvious statement but I highly recommend that you see Prince if he plays near your area. For him to turn my God awful day into a great one is nothing short of amazing.
